We have finally done it. As a family, David, Asher and I, have decided to take the 251 challenge and visit all 251 Towns and Incorporated areas in the state of Vermont. After first hearing about the 251 Club, years ago, we have known it would be a great incentive to get out and explore our great State.
Now we are a few weeks in and we have already visited three towns and taken in a variety of unique cultural events.

St. Albans

Our first town was fittingly St. Albans. The town where my father Fred Collins grew up and attended high school.

Once a bustling rail town, it was a great place to explore after attending a Model Rail Road Show at the Collins-Perley Sports Center (named for Stephan B. Collins, one of my ancestors on my fathers side).

We headed to the center of town after the rail show to get some lunch and enjoy the architecture. We visited the Collins block, another family landmark, and enjoyed a particularly mild early spring day. We also picked up some treats at the Market on Main St. for the ride home.

The trip left us feeling satisfied and sleepy. Great conditions to induce napping on the way home.

It was fun after returning to talk to my Dad and Mom about their memories of living and working in the Railroad City.
